Happy May Day Good People!!
-We had to push back our summer season start one week, you should receive an email today with your specific produce box start date.  Temperatures in the teens the third week of April slowed us down a bit.  Tho only one week slower and it shouldn’t hurt variety or quantity.
-May boxes could be greens heavy; with various combinations of lettuces, collards, kales, chard, onions, radish, rhubarb, asparagus and more.
-We will probably have to close new memberships soon during May, until June when we will be able to reopen new memberships.  We should be able to keep new memberships open from June into October.
-Eggs orders increased quickly and there is currently a waitlist.   Join the waitlist  for the best and quickest chance to receive eggs.
-Keep an eye at our online store, new seasonal items are being added, asparagus is there now and bulk strawberries could be there early June.
-The first MEMBERS OPEN HOUSE of 2014 is June 14th.  Details forthcoming this month.

May is a busy month on the farm.  Over wintered plots are being turned into summer plots.  Row covers and hoophouses (high and low tunnels) are being removed or ventilated for warmer temperatures.  Spring field plantings are in full swing.  Summer transplants are being sown as seeds in flats now.  The first weeds of the year have already been hoed out of some crops.  Harvests of early spring crops begins.  Pest problems increase, especially flea beetles.  Cabbage moths (which can infest a whole lot more than cabbage) were seen in early April.  Cutworms and other root/stem eating larvae are especially hard on young transplants and can wreck havoc this time of year.  Three inches of rain the other day was a lot to have in a short time and is a lil hard on young plants, tho it is good to have rain.

We are excited to start the 4th season of the CSA!!  Thank you so much to the past, and especially the returning, members who’ve brought the CSA this far and to all the members who are part of the CSA this year!
